With the miles done after the engine it will self clean the deposits in the inlet manifold and this means that the engine can only get better. I was 15-20bhp less than others that had Project Powered at the Rolling Road, and this is one of the attributing reasons. That's 10% + of your engine power, not to mention the loss of driving sensation.
Re: 2.4L 5 cylinder T4 Transporter Engine Performance Figures? (CdnVWJunk-e) The TD in the Audis was a 2.0, but it's basically the same engine, so if you can locate one of these, I guess you could swap the turbo system over. You'd need to lower the compression though, and perhaps also swap the diesel pump from the TD engine.
3. a screw driver to undo the jubilee clips holding the feed and return hoses to the filter and whatever spanners you need to put the radiator service position, rags to soak up spilt drizzle. 4. you should wear some gloves to protect your skin from the diesel. Secondly be ready to start moping up, undo the feed and return pipes from the filter
